Dr. Richard Gayles

MEDICAL DOCTOR

Nona Medical Arts founder, board-certified pain management specialist and leading-edge regenerative medicine physician Richard Gayles, MD, offers innovative treatments and individually customized care to each patient he sees and works side-by-side with all providers and staff to deliver exceptional care.


Dr. Richard Gayles brings a wealth of training and experience to Nona Medical Arts. He received a Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology from the University of Michigan in 1987 and his Doctor of Medicine in 1991 at the University of Michigan’s School of Medicine. After graduation, Richard completed an anesthesia residency in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Maryland.


Dr. Gayles obtained further clinical experience in anesthesiology and critical care at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in London, England as a visiting registrar. He subsequently completed a Chronic Pain Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio, where he was awarded the “Fellow of the Year Award” in June of 1997.


Dr. Gayles is board certified in Anesthesiology and has been awarded certification for pain medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology, American Board of Pain Medicine, and American Academy of Pain Management. In November of 2016 Dr. Gayles is volunteer assistant professor at UCF College of Medicine.

Dr. Dawn Allen

DNP, ARNP-BC, WHC

Dawn Allen is a Florida native who is a licensed, board-certified doctorally prepared Nurse Practitioner.

(A Nurse Practitioner is a health care provider who works in collaboration with a physician to deliver quality care to patients. Nurse Practitioners examine, diagnose, interpret test results, provide treatment, prescribe medications, and bring a strong nursing emphasis to a physician like role.)

Dawn completed an additional eighteen-month health coach certification with a focus on functional nutrition.

Dawn continues to expand her functional wellness training through the Institute for Functional Medicine.

Dawn integrates her 20 + years of experience in traditional training with her coaching and functional medicine training to create personalized and comprehensive Wellness Protocols that address the root cause of your symptoms.

Susan Clark

APRN-C, MSN

Susan Clark obtained her bachelor’s degree of Nursing at University of Central Florida in 1986.

She immediately started working in the Intensive Care Unit at Cape Canaveral Hospital. Wanting to further her career she started working toward a master’s degree in Hospital Administration and graduated from FIT in Melbourne with an MBA in 1994.

While working in ICU as charge nurse she decided to commute to Tampa to University of South Florida to pursue her goal of becoming a nurse practitioner. She graduated with a master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner in 1997.

After obtaining her Nurse Practitioner degree she worked in the emergency department at Steward Hospital when she received an offer to work at The BACK Center in Melbourne Florida. She assisted in surgery, saw patients in the hospital and office, started an Osteoporosis Clinic and ran the Clinical Research department.

Working with patient’s and helping them with their pain has always been her passion. Working with the surgeons at The BACK Center gave her a much broader understanding of spinal conditions and the pain that can occur due to these conditions. She also obtained a very broad knowledge of the latest treatment options for spinal conditions and osteoporosis.

After working at The Back Center, she decided to step back from the surgical treatment of patients however still wanted to help patients that were having pain. She therefore started working with Dr. Gayles in 2008. Since then, she has continued her care of pain patients and patients with osteoporosis.
